This project grew out of a need to improve officer safety while the department operated with reduced staffing. The solution replaced cell locks with an electronic remote lock control system managed from two new control rooms, one serving each dayroom. Raymond was engaged to develop construction documents for the control rooms in housing units at Lieber Correctional Institution and McCormick Correctional Institution, each facility containing four housing units. Documents covered architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work along with security electronics and fire protection. Consolidating cell control into a staffed room allows the same number of officers to supervise the housing units more safely.
