NC State Legislative Building Roof Replacement
Raleigh, NC
Home to the North Carolina General Assembly since 1963, the State Legislative Building was designed by Edward Durell Stone and combines classical and contemporary detailing across a 340-foot granite podium. Raymond served as prime engineer for restoration of the curtain wall system, masonry repairs, reconstruction of the promenade and planters, replacement of five copper pyramid roofs, and ceiling restoration in the house chambers. Phase one covered asbestos abatement, copper pyramid reconstruction, and adjacent low-slope roofing; a WUFI hygrothermal simulation identified condensation risk and informed a new ventilated nail base assembly. Phase two waterproofed the promenade roof, restored 88 perimeter windows, and redesigned garden and planter drainage.
