East Carolina University Eakin Student Center Roof Replacement

Greenville, NC

East Carolina University engaged Raymond for design and consulting services covering a partial roof replacement at the Eakin Student Recreation Center, where a large-scale metal roof over the gymnasium and natatorium had begun leaking. Testing across three site visits confirmed water infiltration at the skylight ridge, eave flashing, and field transitions, and revealed that perforated acoustic decking paired with fiberglass batt insulation was allowing interior air into the roof assembly. Raymond installed temperature and humidity sensors beneath the roof to distinguish leakage from condensation. The replacement design includes redesigned ridge conditions, new air and vapor barriers, insulation upgrades, and a new high-performance metal roof system with properly sealed skylight transitions.
