Established in 1956, Campbell Middle School has been expanded repeatedly to keep pace with growth in Cobb County. Raymond provided design services for replacement of most of the building's roof footprint. Pre-design assessment revealed that earlier additions had not properly addressed adjoining construction, positive drainage, or expansion joint placement, and that the existing deck was a mix of seven different assemblies. Forensic testing found that a previous replacement had added lightweight insulating concrete over an in-place coal tar pitch roof, raising structural loading concerns. Raymond designed a full tear-off to the original deck and a new modified bitumen system over insulation and concrete coverboards, then provided quality assurance during construction.
