Wilkie Ferguson Federal Courthouse

The Wilkie Ferguson Federal Courthouse has a water feature that consists of a four-story waterfall with a large reflection pool below. After a few years in service the waterfall began leaking, causing water intrusion into the parking garage and adjacent mechanical room. Raymond was engaged to perform testing and design waterproofing systems and mechanical room relocations.

Benefits/Challenges

Unique Challenges

The project presented a comprehensive scope of services necessary for reviving the water feature and ensuring adjacent areas would be watertight. This included pressure testing the PVC pipes and installing new waterproofing for the pool and the trough. Further system improvements were recommended including relocating the pump filters and adding a pressure sensor, installing new pipe fittings, and installing a chemical feeding system. A custom soffit system was also designed to allow for easy maintenance and access.

The project was additionally challenging because our team was coordinating work in an area that required a high level of site security and limited access.

Project budget constraints required careful planning and thoughtful use of funds to accomplish the overall project goals.

Our Value Add

The owner was able to take advantage of Raymond’s experience in water intrusion testing to perform additional investigations with existing staff and company resources.
