L.G. Rich Environmental Laboratory
Through our On-Call Building Envelope contract, Raymond was contracted to provide a structural and building envelope investigation of the L.G. Rich Environmental Laboratory. The lab was experiencing an area of slab depression in the bathroom floor which was causing concern with the staff and students utilizing the space. Raymond provided an evaluation of the slab and plumbing as well as adjoining walls and provided the university with recommendations for repair of the space.

Benefits/Challenges
Unique Challenges
The challenges of this project were to identify the cause of the settlement of the interior grade slab and the perimeter foundation of the building without performing any demolition of the structure, interior floor slabs or the interior and exterior finishes.
Our Value Add
Raymond was able to identify several potential issues that may be causing the settlement. Our team coordinated with a geotechnical consultant to perform soil testing adjacent to the building in the settlement areas and prepared a report identifying remediation efforts needed to stabilize the structure. Utilizing our recommendations, Clemson University can address the settlement and prevent further deterioration of the facilities.
