Griffin Middle School

Raymond performed the roof replacement design after the older section of the facility continually experienced water intrusion into the interior of the building. This roof replacement project was unique in that there were two main sections of the building; one constructed in 1972 and the other in 2005. Between the two facilities, there were 4 different decking types/roof assemblies and 3 different types of drainage facilities. Our team successfully completed a new roof and drainage design that will allow 20 years of service and protection to the interior of the building.

Unique Challenges

Challenges included the inaccurate existing drawings and several existing assembly/drainage types. We developed a single system which will provide uniformity across the roof.

Our Value Add

Raymond designed a roof which will provide 20+ years of service and protect the interior of the building. We also upgraded the overflow drainage system to meet current codes.

Project will be eligible for GA Power rebates for cool reflective roofs.

Added insulation for the new roof system will reduce cooling costs and loads on the existing equipment.

Removed abandoned curbs/covers and installed new decking that will provide more sound deadening and insulation than the existing metal curb covers.

Project included new roof access ladders as needed to provide access.
