RX Compounding Pharmacy (RVA)
Virginia’s first nationally accredited compounding pharmacy, Rx3 a family business. The client wanted a clean, modern design with high ceilings, flexible retail display areas and gathering areas for community events and education. The design team planned the retail space to highlight a sweeping circular counter area for order placement and pickup. A linear ceiling tile incorporated lighting to create a “non” traditional pharmacy setting and also provide acoustical control. Space planning and construction documentation services were provided as well as custom signage design and movable displays.
The goal of the project was to create a floor plan that provided enhanced patient flow for both dermatology and cosmetic patients, custom displays for products and the integration of natural light. To obtain larger, more efficient space, this dermatology practice relocated to an office condo at Peter Jefferson Place. Raymond worked closely with the practice to design a floor plan that responded to the needs of the practice. The physicians in the practice requested a floor plan that provided enhanced patient flow for both dermatology and cosmetic patients, custom displays for products and the integration of natural light. Exam rooms and private offices are located along the perimeter to incorporate true color from natural light and provide enhanced views of the surrounding outdoors.
Retreat Doctor’s Women’s Unit
The renovation of The Women’s Unit was a total transformation of a 1960’s patient care area to a new model for a healing environment. This exclusive unit is a first for the hospital; a unit devoted to women’s health. The concept is evocative of a hotel. For patients and their families, the first impression suggests a high quality of care. The unit is highlighted by a central spa facility that includes a lounge area, massage room, manicure/pedicure area, and showers with jetted fittings. The patient rooms emulate a boutique hotel using warm wood finishes, natural lighting, indirect lighting and contemporary furniture and fabrics. A warm color palette reduces stress and provides visual comfort.

PDH Central Sterile Relocation and Renovation
The existing central sterile facility was too small for our client’s caseloads and had an outdated layout and old equipment. Per client direction, we initially planned the new facility in its current location and took over some adjacent space that was not being utilized. During design development, we entered many discussions of how to renovate the central sterile facility in place while still being able to perform the work they needed to. The decision was made to relocate the facility across the corridor to another larger space that was being under-utilized.
